It sounds as though Tim Burgess has traded in Al Green for Bob Marley; the infectious falsettos and the gentle washes of blue-eyed soul have given way to reggae-like riddims that infuses the band's signature Hammond-soaked sound. Songs such as "For Your Entertainment" and "Lights Go Out In London" get the precarious (and sometimes awkward) blend right, and along with the more "traditional" sounding "Blacked Blue Eyes" and "NYC", are Simpatico's highlights.
