Destroyer

Destroyer's seventh effort, Destroyer's Rubies, marries the non-linear, biting wit of Robyn Hitchcock with the bombastic musical tour-de-force of T-Rex and throws in some Dylan and early Bowie, just for fun. The band is Canadian songwriter, Dan Bejar, who also does time in the New Pornographers. He's a Salvador Dali of sorts, bending notes here and swiping a lyric there, creating music that seems to defy gravity, let alone logic. Seriously cool stuff.
