Eighteen Visions

With their self-titled fifth album, Eighteen Visions undergo what experts call "The Unforgiven" Syndrome. Like Metallica and their eponymous release, 18V have dropped the ton-of-bricks aggression and opted for a more listener-friendly, mature sound. Their arena-sized, torch-song metal might put off fans from their hardcore days, but songs like "Pretty Suicide" and first single "Victim" retain the jet-roar guitars of the band's early days. James Hart actually sings instead of growls, and electronic drums and complex structures mark a true progression for one of modern metal's reigning kings.
