Grooverider

A sample of a distress call from Star Trek opens this LP, setting a mood of excitement and disquiet. The "energy distortion" the Trekkies fret about permeates Grooverider's chilling drum 'n' bass, which skitters nervously and then expands into vast, beat-filled nebulae. Goldie and Roni Size may be better known, but Grooverider is really d 'n' b's dark horse.

Though Grooverider and 4 Hero were both present at the creation of jungle, they've since
gone their separate ways. Grooverider, who describes himself as a "soldier," has spent the
last six years on a long march of DJ gigs and recruitment drives for the music. By contrast, 4
Hero's Dego MacFarlane and Marc Mac have joined jungle's underground resistance –
