Big Dreams and High Hopes starts off with the jaunty "Free" and keeps pace until slowing down for the serene beauty "Seeing Stars," which features Patty Griffin on vocals. Ingram has also re-recorded "Barbie Doll," a song originally released on his 1999 effort, Hey You. Always a live favorite, this revved-up version features Dierks Bentley on vocals and completely captures the loose, rousing party vibe the song inspires. It is, however, a pair of slow songs that steal the thunder: "Man in Your Life" and "Heartache" are two stunners whose heart-on-sleeve sincerity captivates.
