Joseph Arthur's second record manages to hone the more quirky elements of his debut into something commercially viable (yet still artistically rewarding). The hushed tone of his vocals is still the centerpiece, but the way he's able to wrap them in intelligent lyrics and dark, folkish pop is nothing to shake a stick at, either.
