Sure, LL Cool J may be rap's Kenny Loggins -- perennially "safe," supposedly sexy and ridiculously successful -- but he's also the only member of hip-hop's first generation who's still commercially viable. On Todd Smith, LL refines his mature lover man persona. "Best Dressed" and "Control Myself" are hopelessly romantic, though "Preserve the Sexy" is suicide inducing.
