Mary's Danish

About

The quintessential Los Angeles quintet, Mary's Danish's engaging Jangle Pop hides a kinetic energy behind a solid, smooth style that's relatively easy to swallow. Borrowing the lazy harmonies and irreverent rock 'n' roll swagger popularized by L.A. punk progenitors X, the band adds a pinch of easily digestible Funk and a spicy pop sensibility. The band scored minor, 120 Minutes-calibur hits with "Don't Crash the Car Tonight" and "Julie's Blanket," and garnered a sizable following of post-punk, pre-alternative fans. Constantly on the verge of success but never totally breaking out, the band released their fourth and final record in 1993.
