"I Don't Wanna Waste Your Time," the first song on Over the Rhine's 13th studio album, sounds like an earnest Norah Jones essaying witty lounge repartee a la Randy Newman. That this husband-and-wife songwriting team from Cincinnati wears their influences on their sleeves is not at all a bad thing. "Don't Wait For Tom" is a punny tribute to a hero of theirs named Waits, while "If A Song Could Be President" takes a humorous pass through the duo's record collection, with lines like "We'd make Neil Young a Senator, even though he came from Canada."
