Oxford Collapse

Built on a spaghetti bowl of electric guitar and rousing sing-along, "Please Visit Your National Parks" recalls '90s trendsetter Cap'n Jazz, but this Sub Pop debut places the band's engaging blend of influences in the capable hands of vet indie producer John Agnello. Tunes like "Loser City" and "In Your Volcano" are highlights for their focused arrangements and bristling energy, but the sprawling "Return of / Bruno," which builds for eight minutes into a furious mess of post rock, shows the band's range. After three good records, Oxford Collapse has finally made a great one.
