Mastodon's superb technical, down-and-sludgy post-thrash is guilty of progressive influence (manifested in lengthy songs and fantastic album concepts). The Atlanta band has claimed its spot among the metal elite since arriving on the scene in 2001. Critically acclaimed and living up to their reputation, Mastodon return with 2009's Crack the Skye. To mark the occasion, we're celebrating their best guitar work here, because let's face it -- if there were ever an encyclopedia of riffs, it would be written by these guys.
