Hungary is not the first place that springs to mind when one thinks of world music. But the European nation is one of the birthplaces of the world music industry and of ethnomusicology, a field Bela Bartok helped to invent when he began archiving traditional Hungarian folk songs. This playlist offers a brief overview of Hungarian "world-ish" music, but it's just the tip of the iceberg -- or, perhaps more accurately, only a small spoonful of the rich, musical goulash this country has to offer.
