There are many reasons the Beatles remain the gold standard beside which all other rock and pop bands are judged. The main reason -- Lennon, McCartney, Harrison (and, once, Ringo) wrote more brilliant songs than any other artist or group of the rock age. There are dozens of cover versions here (from all eras and genres) and dozens more quality Beatles tunes are missing.
