Slayer

The godfathers of just about everything in metal today, Slayer show no signs of slowing down. Their approach to metal is still extreme even though Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman are practically 100 years old by now. Hanneman plays with such intensity he practically grows the hair back on his head, and the opening cut alone, with a middle breakdown you can't play loud enough and swirling feedback soloing, proves these guys have no business hanging up their pentagram-stenciled combat boots. "Public Display of Dismemberment" is easily one of their all-time best song titles.
