The Damnwells

Crisp, cutting pop songs that maintain a late-period Replacements-worthy sense of melody and structure. More good news is that the Damnwells have a lot going on in the songwriting department. They're at their best with slightly bitter, wearily sarcastic tunes and when they toss some alt country into the mix.

Based in Brooklyn, the Damnwells are about as far from the Midwest as they can be, yet
their emotional pop-rock is sonically rustbelt -- where the husks of empty factories look
