The Killers

The Killers are nothing if not ambitious: if the leadoff single, "When You Were Young," is any indication, their second album skips the arena to go straight to stadium rock. But even as it's grandiose as fireworks over the Vegas skyline, the track's attention to detail --crisp guitar accentuated by shimmering synths, a ballsy AOR-style breakdown at the bridge -- shows the band's grasp at maturity. If they've overextended themselves, they've done it with a straight flush of style.
