The Redwalls

That the Redwalls named their major label debut De Nova is presumably sly acknowledgement of the band's near-neophobic take on rock 'n' roll. Echoes of Dylan, the Stones and the Beatles abound, but happily the likes of "Robinson Crusoe," "Thank You" and "Build a Bridge" have shades of their idols' songwriting skills.

The Redwalls are four shaggy-haired boys from the Chicago suburbs whose version of
mid-Sixties Brit rock is so spot-on it's tiresome. Their second album mixes junkyard riffs,
busy horn arrangements and cracked-throat garage wailing from singer Logan Baren.
Barnburners like "Rock and Roll" show true bar-rocking abandon, but anyone who's had
