The Byrds

Wait, wasn't there already a Byrds box set that came out in 1990? Why did they put out another one? The only answer we can muster is that true Byrds fans tend to have really bad short term memories. To be fair, the wingspan of this Byrds box is a bit wider, including some demos and Gene Clark rarities not found on the aforementioned 1990 box. There are also some studio outtakes and lost recordings that surfaced (post first box) on individual album reissues as bonus tracks as well as some sweet live Clarence White-era material that came out on Live at the Fillmore West February 1969.

The Byrds are still among the most underrated bands in rock history. One reason is that
they didn't have a unique, charismatic frontman: Five California folkie boys came together
one jingle-jangle morning in 1964 and then careened around musically for a decade. The
