It's as if Kirk Franklin's power praise, Rev. John P. Kee's knee-high marching choral rhythms and Donnie McClurkin's elegant evangelism all walk into a bar...no, a nightclub...and the walls begin to pound like the House of Blues during Sunday Gospel brunch. Then Mr. Tribbet stirs with a soul spoon, sidles down the aisle with an R&B slide, pops with punctuated hip hop, and the vocalists who follow this pied piper are smooth. Straight-rhythmed "Bless the Lord" is not like the others, almost MercyMe in its inspirational style, but the guitar, whinnying organ, and bright urban gospel vocals keep it attached to the rest. A polished and packed hour and 20 minutes.
