Yellowcard

Rock's rules state that when a band requests a 25-piece orchestra the end -- via rehab, split or failure -- is nigh. But in Yellowcard's case giving their violin-tinged punk-pop classical underpinning sounds more like real progress. Broad-strokes songs about half-loves, disillusion and lost highways abound, but at times Lights and Sounds sonically springs to life.
